C&C win the FCSI Special Award for Excellence in Project Management
C&C Catering Equipment have received the FCSI Special Award for Excellence in Project Management for their contribution to the new £50 million Student Hub building at Manchester Metropolitan University at the 2012 CEDA annual conference.
The annual CEDA Grand Prix awards took place on Friday 4th May at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire. The awards recognise catering equipment distributors for their ability to design, deliver and support commercial kitchen installations.
For this technically demanding project C&C worked with Foodservice design consultants Foodesco and the main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine to deliver a sustainable building which is now used by 5000 students and 250 staff. Working to the architect’s and MMU’s requirements they built and implemented the kitchen and cafe for the University’s new multi million pound Student Hub building.
The judges described the project as, “At the forefront of sustainable building development in the university sector, this was a technically challenging project.”
C&C were also runner-up in the Profit Sector Large Category for a project that required them to cover facilities on five levels of Warwickshire County Cricket club’s new Edgbaston Pavilion Stand with a build schedule that was cut from 12 weeks to just six!
In the Cost Sector Large Category C&C were again the runner-up for the MMU project, and Project Manager Keith Hartharn was awarded a Certificate of Merit from the CEDA judges for his work at Edgbaston and MMU.
Managing Director, Peter Kitchin comments, “Having our commercial kitchen project expertise recognised at the CEDA industry awards is always a great boost for the company. We will continue to deliver top level projects large and small and I thank my team for their hard work and dedication”.
